Remembering Pam Chamberlain
By now many of you have heard the very sad news about the passing of Pam Chamberlain, one of our best loved colleagues. Pam was a long time customer reference professional, for years at HP and more recently at IBM, and a very generous colleague and peer to many of us in the CRF community. She recently contracted a rare and aggressive form of cancer—and had been sick for less than a month before she passed away.
Her former boss at HP, Billie Abrams, passed the news along to me. Here are her reflections on this terrific person. "I know that Jim, Caitlyn and the rest of Pam’s family are in as much shock as all of us. We will always remember the energetic, caring and hardworking colleague and friend that Pam was. Please forward this news to others who knew and cared for Pam."
Also--very important--one of Pam's great passions was making sure that her and husband Jim's daughter, Caitlyn, completed her education. As a result, Jim and several of Pam's friends including Billie have created a way to donate to Caitlyn's college education.
Here is Jim’s response to such donations: “I’m at a loss for words (Pam, of course would challenge that idea!) but your proposal is amazing and I’m truly speechless. I’m so proud of my Pam that she would inspire you to set up an educational fund for Caitlyn. I’m humbled and ever so grateful.”
If you are interested in making such a donation:write a check to James Chamberlain and put Caitlyn’s name in the “memo” area of the check (usually on lower left hand corner). Jim already has an account set up for Caitlyn for this purpose and will deposit these donations into this account. send the check to:
